Girke Lege, Qamishli, Syria − On Wednesday, a bombed car, driven by an unknown, exploded near a stronghold of the Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) in al-Hamra village, east of Jel Agha/al-Jawadyeh town, north-east Syria.

A source in al-Hamra told ARA News that the driver of the bombed car was trying to enter the YPG stronghold in the village

“As he did not succeed to enter the area, he executed his operation in front of the YPG centre,” the source said, preferring anonymity. “The incident resulted in three casualties among the YPG forces, and a resident of al-Hamra was also killed.”

After the incident, mmbers of the Asayesh −the security arm of the Democratic Union Party in Syria (PYD)− surrounded all the roads that lead to the explosion area as a precautious step.

This comes days after a similar suicide bombing took place in the village of Himo, west of Qamishlo/al-Qamishli, when a suicide bomber tried to blow himself in a car inside a YPG stronghold, causing several injuries, according to sources linked to the YPG.
