Damascus, Syria− At least four civilians were killed and 15 others were wounded on Saturday due to artillery shelling by forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad on residential areas in Arbeen and Nashabiya towns in the eastern Ghouta near Damascus.

Dozens of families escaped their homes amid crackdown of Syrian military forces on Saturday evening.

Speaking to ARA News in Damascus, media activist Yazan Ibrahim said that hundreds of residents of Arbeen and Nashabiya were seen “fleeing their areas”.

“The displaced civilians resorted to other relatively safe areas in eastern Ghouta,” Ibrahim reported.

Meanwhile, renewed clashes took place between opposition fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and regime forces in the city of Darayya in Damascus suburb on Sunday.

According to local sources, two pro-Assad soldiers were killed during Darayya’s clashes.

Members of the Syrian military forces launched an attack against FSA-held city of Darayya in an attempt to sweep the city, resulting in Saturday’s clashes.
